The AE300 is a turbocharged, geared, liquid-cooled compression-ignition engine burning Jet A-1, controlled through an electronic control unit with a single power lever per side.

Almost every habit from a carburetted Lycoming is wrong here, and the paper knows it. Mixture, carburettor icing and magneto questions do not apply; ECU logic, gearbox life and coolant do.

The Austro and Thielert DA42s are separate subjects on AIVR CPL with separate banks and separate papers, because they are different engines with different limitations, different power settings and different failure behaviour.

The multi-engine speeds — VMCA, VSSE, VYSE — and the single-engine performance figures are where this paper concentrates its marks, together with the ECU and electrical questions candidates skip because they feel like avionics.
